About this coffee

The Buena Vista 3 lot hails from the El Velo region, where the cool, elevated climate creates the perfect environment for cultivating Geisha plants. At these altitudes, Geisha reveals its signature bright, floral qualities. The farm sits between 1,650 and 1,900 masl, with a stunning nature reserve extending up to 2,900 masl. For this coffee, only the ripest cherries were handpicked, carefully washed, and slowly dried on shaded beds to preserve its exceptional flavour.

ORIGIN INFO

The Farm

In 2004, Hacienda La Esmeralda made history when the Peterson family won the prestigious Best of Panama competition with a Geisha coffee that was previously unknown of in the region. That same year, they didn’t just claim victory - they shattered records, achieving the highest price ever seen at auction. The variety originates from Ethiopia and is known as Gesha everywhere else except in Panama. This extraordinary coffee has since become one of the most celebrated and sought-after varieties in the world.

Harvesting at Hacienda La Esmeralda is a meticulous process. Only the ripest, most vibrant cherries are selected, hand-picked over multiple rounds to ensure perfect ripeness. Each coffee tree is visited up to ten times, ensuring only the finest cherries are chosen. The result is an elegant, juicy cup that shines with notes of jasmine, peach, and melon.

What makes Buena Vista 3 even more special is its impact beyond the cup. With a commitment to social responsibility, the farm supports vital programmes, including a school for the children of migrant workers and a minimum 30% bonus for all employees. Every sip doesn’t just offer an unforgettable coffee experience - it supports the people and community behind it.
